iOS has proven to be a pretty good platform for social networking. Given the huge number of copycats among developers, it is not surprising that the success of some are trying to repeat others. But to create a social network you just need to come up with an idea (preferably a brilliant one) and create a nice interface. Piictu has the ingredients, but will success come?

Here’s the idea. One of the Piictu users takes a photo of something. Then, in the manner of Twitter, a text with brief information is attached to the photo. This creates an album where other people can post their photos (on the same topic). For example, take a picture of Magic Mouse, name the category “Your computer mouse” and wait for additions. It’s nice to be linked to the user’s account on Twitter itself, as well as on Facebook.

The main interface of the program consists of three tabs: Follow (albums you want to follow), Popular (popular) and Latest (latest). The main activity, of course, takes place in the Popular section. By the way, note that you can find any content here, moderation, if any, is very democratic.

Speaking of activity, it is decent at the moment. Updates occur almost every minute, which is a good sign for developers. And this in the absence of the program in the section New and Noteworthy! One way or another, it is too early to predict success, but it is a good start. To better understand how the social network works, see our video review:

The client requires improvement – there are crashes, refusals to delete photos and other bugs. Let’s hope that the developers will quickly deal with them, and who knows, maybe now we see the new Instagram.
